AD Kirby Hocutt leaves for Texas Tech

Hurricane Mutiny
As has been rumored for nearly a week, Miami AD Kirby Hocutt decided to head back to his home state of Texas on Friday and take the same position at Texas Tech University. Hocutt, fresh off the hiring of head football coach Al Golden spent nearly 3 years in Coral Gables. While he made several strides within the athletic department and the Hurricanes athletic community, Hocutt is not deemed to be irreplaceable. President Shalala now plans to conduct a national search for his replacement. While there are no names out there suggesting frontrunners, you can be sure that there are many very interested, highly qualified candidates.

Details of Spring Football practice released...

Hurricane Mutiny Tuesday, February 22, 2011

According to the Miami Herald...

"The Hurricanes released their spring football media policies Tuesday, as well as the football scrimmage schedule. The first practice session will be at 9 a.m. on Greentree Field. Most of the other practices are at 2:15 p.m., although other Saturday sessions are in the morning.

All three scrimmages will be open to the public: Saturday, April 2, 10 a.m., at a venue to be announced; Saturday, April 9, 10 a.m., at a venue to be announced; and Saturday, April 16 (spring game), likely at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale. The time for the spring game has not been decided.

The media will be allowed to watch the first 15 minutes of each practice. And in a new policy, reporters now will interview players and Coach Al Golden before regular practices, instead of afterward, as previously had been the case at least since Butch Davis took over in 1995.

Practices will be open to all high school coaches, prospective student-athletes, NFL scouts and UM football alums (former players), as long as they have valid passes."

Amos "AJ" Leggett switches back to the Canes

Hurricane Mutiny

AJ Leggett committed to the Canes last September only to decommit to the Florida State Seminoles prior to signing day just a few weeks ago. But now he has had a change of heart. The ultra talented defensive back from Miami's Gulliver Prep and member of Miami's reigning national champion 7 on 7 squad, the South Florida Express, is a huge pick for coach Al Golden's Canes.
